Soren Allen
Biography
Soren Allen is a composer, arranger, performer, and music theorist living and working in Nashville, TN. Soren received his Master of Music in Music Composition from Belmont University. He specializes in composing wind chamber music and is proficient in writing for both woodwind and brass ensembles; though, he writes music for piano, voice, and strings as well. Soren’s teaching experience includes assistant directing Belmont University’s New Music Ensemble, coaching voice for youth theater, lecturing music theory, and teaching piano lessons. Soren plays trombone with the Lakes Brass Quintet, a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization based in Nashville, whose mission is to spread and encourage an appreciation for music education by conducting musical performances and providing resources for music teachers and brass professionals in Middle Tennessee. He has a strong interest in microtonal music and theory, specifically in studying various equal divisions of the octave and the storied history of quarter-tone accidentals. Soren is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and he both represented Belmont University at the fraternity’s national conventions in 2018 and 2022 and served as the chapter’s president in 2019-2020. You will often find Soren cozied up at home with his beautiful wife Lauren, their son Forest, and their two cats, Juniper and Aspen.
