Biography

Dr. Stephen Shin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sport Administration. Dr. Shin earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Sport Administration from the University of New Mexico; a Master of Science in Sport Administration from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse; and a Bachelor of Physical Education in Sports and Leisure Studies from Yong In University.

Prior to joining the faculty at Belmont, Dr. Shin was an Assistant Professor at Northern State University in South Dakota and a Full-time Instructor at East Tennessee State University. He has instructed a variety of courses which include Organizational Behavior and Leadership in Sport, Financial Aspects of Sport, Globalization of Sport, and Research Methods in Sport.

Dr. Shin’s research interests lie in the areas of organizational behavior/leadership and diversity/inclusion in intercollegiate athletics based on socio-cultural perspective. He has delivered papers at various national and international conferences which include the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM), the North American Society for the Sociology of Sport (NASSS), the Sport Marketing Association (SMA), and the Sport & Recreation Law Association (SRLA).

Dr. Shin is originally from Seoul, South Korea. He has a beautiful wife, Joy and they have two children, Saimee and Caleb. In his leisure time, he enjoys camping and playing golf.
