Biography

Ty Smith is a musician born in Tupelo, Mississippi—a place situated between the blues of the Mississippi Delta, the groove of Stax in Memphis, and the country soul of Muscle Shoals. Growing up amid these influences shaped Ty’s unique musical approach, blending elements of blues, soul, and country.

Much of Ty’s work focuses on writing songs for TV and film. His songs have been featured as national trailers on Fox’s STAR, NBC’s The Blacklist, and ABC’s The Rookie. Additionally, his music has been placed in shows such as Shameless (Paramount), Degrassi High (Netflix), Monarch (Fox), Roswell, New Mexico (The CW), and Hell’s Angels-Outlaw Chronicles (History Channel).

As a songwriter, Ty’s compositions have sold over a million units, showcasing a range of styles as broad as his musical influences. He co-wrote the top CCM hit "When I Fall" for Rachel Lampa, which was featured on the WOW Hits compilation and earned RIAA Gold and Platinum certification. Ty’s musical approach is rooted in a band perspective, with his first love being the drums. As a drummer, he has delivered groove and feel for some of the biggest acts in country music, including Easton Corbin, Holly Williams, SheDaisy, Ronnie Milsap, and Trisha Yearwood.
