Our Christian Identity

Join a community of faith, hope and belonging.

Our identity as a Christ-centered institution is at the core of who we are. We are committed to developing students into leaders of purpose, character, wisdom and transformational mindset – leaders who are eager and equipped to make the world a better place.

We are also committed to radically championing the pursuit of life abundant for all. We welcome students from a wide array of faith traditions and support them as they explore their spiritual paths and live out their purpose.

Our mission as a Christ-centered community plays out in many ways – from rich academic programs and more than 20 faith-based student organizations to worship services and mission trips around the world.

“I’ve been able to take religion, theology, arts, humanities hand in hand with love for science and math and deep critical thinking and know they aren’t completely removed from each other but rather interplay really well. As a whole sense, all these things can motivate me vocationally in my life and continue to give me a sense of purpose.”

Faith & Academics

Explore your academic passions and deepen your faith – at the same time. In our Christ-centered community, you’ll find many opportunities to weave your faith into your studies by championing justice, serving your community and much more. Here are some ways you can integrate your academic study with your calling.

Explore courses such as Writing and Spirituality and Creativity and the Christian Artist. Hear from poets, philosophers and advocates for justice. Participate in the annual Christian Scholars Conference.

Immerse yourself in the study of Christian Leadership, Faith & Social Justice, Ministry or Religious Studies. With 10 paths of undergraduate study, our School of Theology & Christian Ministry stands at the intersection of spiritual growth and intellectual development. Through courses like Christian Ethics, Pastoral Care and Faith and Popular Culture, you’ll grow intellectually, emotionally and spiritually.

At Belmont, you’ll find many ways to explore your faith.

Apply your business education to help solve the problems of Nashville and the world. Belmont founded the nation’s first undergraduate Social Entrepreneurship Program, and our students have gone on to build nonprofits such as Barefoot Republic, Preston Taylor Ministries and Thistle Farms. In classes on business ethics, you’ll examine biblical perspectives and explore how business is a calling to serve the wider community.

Delve into Christian music and film and immerse yourself in service to others. As an entertainment or music business student at Belmont, you can help produce Christian music performances, engage with industry insiders who are guided by faith, and mentor youth at Rocketown, a faith-based outreach facility and music venue in downtown Nashville.

Provide healthcare in Guatemala through a mission trip, teach prenatal classes at a crisis pregnancy center or help neighbors in need through the Belmont Ministry Center clinics. Our nursing and allied health programs provide many opportunities to put your faith into action.

Belmont is the only pharmacy school in the country with a Public Health & Missions track. In our program, you can work with patients across populations, backgrounds and income levels at Siloam Family Health Center and The Next Door, an addiction treatment center. You can also participate in the Global Missions Health Conference, Belmont’s chapter of Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International and much more.

Engage in thoughtful debate about the intersection of science with faith. We believe that taking care of God’s creation is a biblical responsibility, and we regularly host seminars and other events to explore the interconnections between Christianity and the sciences.
