Belmont University is proud to announce a series of events in celebration of Veterans Week 2023, demonstrating the university's commitment to educate, celebrate and support those who have served our country. The week-long celebration will take place from Nov. 6-11 and will include various activities to honor veterans and their families.
Veterans Week 2023 events include:
MONDAY, NOV. 6
CHAPEL: SEASONS OF PURPOSE WITH ED MAGEE

How do we find our purpose when our lives and careers seem to be constantly evolving? Drawing from his own experience in the military and leading organizations, Ed Magee will help our community to think about how we can find purpose and meaning in the changing seasons of our lives. Ed Magee has served as Vice President for Strategic Operations and Executive-in-Residence for the Massey College of Business since February 2023. Prior to coming to Belmont, he served in executive leadership at Fender and Harley Davidson, on several non-profit boards and is a combat veteran.

5:30 PM – Bruin Vets Participation Begins/6:30 PM Game Start
Wear your Bruin Vets T-shirt and join us in the Bruin Vets section for Belmont’s Men’s Basketball season opener against Georgia State! Plan to get there by 5:30 – this is Military Appreciation night, and the first 250 guests in the door will get a free T-shirt giveaway in honor of our military.
Bruin Vets recognition throughout the game:
- Bruin Vets will be recognized as the student organization of the game
- Bruin Vets Secretary Isabella Shradar will lead the invocation
- Bruin Vets Vice-President Aeva Willis will sing the national anthem
- Bruin Vets President Jesse Patterson will present the game ball

Follow Student Veteran Aeva Willis on Belmont’s Instagram: Aeva will take over the reins of Belmont’s Instagram account and share her experiences through pictures and videos on Instagram.

VETERAN WEEK RECOGNITION: LETTER WRITING TO SOLDIERS

Show your support for Belmont’s Veterans Week in honor of Belmont student veterans, someone else who has served, or in support of our military and write a note of thanks to military members who are currently deployed all over the world. President Greg Jones will make special announcements and Bruin Vets will lead the Belmont community in Letter Writing. Service Wellness WELLCore will be offered for Letter Writing.
MASSEY MIXER
5:00 – 6:30 p.m. | Barbara Massey Rogers Lobby
Connect with Veteran Alumni at a mixer hosted by Massey College of Business. Veteran Alumni will be sharing information and advice from their academic and career experiences for veteran students with any major. Non-veteran Alumni will also be stationed at tables representing a variety of career paths and key industries. Students will have the option to visit the networking table(s) of their choice.

In support of Belmont’s Veterans Week, we are launching R.E.D. “Remember Everyone Deployed” Friday! We ask that students, faculty, and staff wear red today in support of our deployed service members. The BruinShop is offering an additional 15% off any red apparel item for Students, Faculty and Staff in-store only from Monday, Nov. 6 – Friday, Nov. 10.
