As a Belmont University student, your health and well-being are essential to your academic success and overall college experience. Balancing your studies, social life and health can be challenging, especially when you're not feeling your best. This comprehensive guide aims to help you navigate health concerns while pursuing your education at Belmont.

A General Guidance for College Studentsstudent sitting in a health clinic waiting room

  1. Prioritize Your Health and Know Your Resources: Your well-being should always come first. Familiarize yourself with Belmont's Health Services and the Office of Student Care & Support and don't hesitate to seek medical attention when needed. Health Services offers a wide range of services, from treating illnesses and injuries to providing immunizations and lab services, while Student Care and Support works with students to offer holistic care including academic concerns, emotional well-being, mental health, grief and physical health.
  2. Communicate with Professors: If you're too ill to attend class, communicate directly with your professors. Our faculty are willing to work with students facing health challenges.
  3. Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date with Belmont's health policies and any campus-wide health announcements through official University channels.
  4. Stay Organized: Keep track of assignments and deadlines, especially when you're not feeling well.
  5. Practice Self-Care: Get enough rest, maintain a balanced diet and stay hydrated to support your recovery.
  6. Have a Support System: Keep in touch with friends, family or a counselor who can offer emotional support, and connect with fellow Bruins who can offer support during challenging times.student sitting under a tree
  7. Plan Ahead: Consider having a "sick day kit" with essentials like over-the-counter medications, tissues and easy-to-prepare foods. You can pick up these items at Belmont’s Campus Pharmacy, located on the first floor of McWhorter Hall.
  8. Know the Local Healthcare Landscape: Familiarize yourself with nearby hospitals and urgent care centers in Nashville in case you need care when Health Services is closed.
  9.
