March 31, 2025 | by Nolan Galbreath

Matches previous year for highest first-destination rate in university history

Belmont’s 2024 graduating class achieved a remarkable 97% career outcomes rate for the second consecutive year, the University announced today. This figure represents graduates who are employed, pursuing further education or serving in the military within six months of graduation. Significantly surpassing the national average of 85%, the career outcomes rate demonstrates Belmont’s continued success in preparing graduates for meaningful post-college pursuits.

Of graduates surveyed, 85% are working in industries aligned with their career aspirations and more than 12% are continuing their education. Of the students furthering their education, 91% were accepted to their first choice of graduate school. Less than 1% enlisted in volunteer or military service.

Students at Belmont's graduation“These metrics illustrate how our graduates are putting their Belmont education to use in the job market,” said Mary Claire Dismukes, director of Career & Professional Development. “We seek to equip all students with the skills, relationships, experience and intentional plans to ensure a successful career wherever they choose to go.”

The career outcomes data also revealed more than 48% of graduates surveyed participated in an internship for course credit while at Belmont, and nearly 30% of students participated in study abroad programs.

“Belmont truly sets you up for success beyond graduation,” said class of 2024 alumna Mattie Hargis. “The curriculum and professors provide a strong foundation, and the relationships you build really propel you forward. You’ll gain invaluable connections that will shape your career. I wouldn’t have secured my internship or be where I am today at CSI DMC in Nashville without my professors’ encouragement.”

Belmont remains dedicated to equipping people to solve the world’s complex problems through teaching, research and service, and its commitment to this aspirational aim is showcased throughout the class of 2024.

All figures were obtained by Belmont University’s Career and Development Office per the National Association of Colleges and Employers’ First Destination Survey. Read more facts and figures from the class of 2024 here.
