The Challenge

Peaches Brown sought a pharmacy program that would provide more than clinical knowledge — one that would offer global perspectives, leadership development and personalized educational experiences aligned with her health care interests.

The Solution

Brown found Belmont's PharmD program offered three key elements crucial to her development:

1. Global Health Care Perspective

"My study abroad experience in Barcelona, Spain, and medical mission trip to Honduras broadened my perspective on global health care," Brown said.

These international experiences revealed how cultural contexts, resources, and health care delivery systems vary worldwide, preparing her to address health care disparities with greater cultural sensitivity. Peaches Brown on medical mission trip

2. Hands-On Clinical Excellence

Brown noted: "My rotations in the Medical ICU at Ascension Saint Thomas West and Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center provided hands-on experience in complex patient care, allowing me to apply my knowledge in real-time while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams."

3. Leadership Development

"Belmont's emphasis on leadership in pharmacy aligns with my passion for making a broader impact in health care. Through opportunities like Phi Lambda Sigma Honor Society and Phi Delta Chi Pharmacy Fraternity, I've cultivated leadership, service and professional development skills," Brown said.

The Results

Brown's experience in Belmont's program has transformed her both professionally and personally by:

  • Enhancing her critical thinking through research projects
  • Developing her confidence, resilience and adaptability
  • Cultivating a stronger sense of purpose in pharmacy
  • Building practical skills through multidisciplinary collaboration

Key Takeaway

"I entered Belmont with a passion for pharmacy, but I am leaving with a stronger sense of purpose and a clearer vision for my future," Brown reflected.
