Testing Center

Janet Ayers Academic Center, Room G123

Consistent with our institutional values of integrity, inquiry, collaboration, service and humility, the mission of the Belmont University Testing Center is to support students and faculty in the assessment of student knowledge. The Testing Center, available on-campus, is a secure environment available to students who need additional time, minimal distractions, or other University approved accommodations. The Testing Center is also available for students who have an excused absence for an exam that they would have otherwise taken in their typical classroom setting. Please note that the Testing Center currently only allows for Belmont exams, not outside standardized testing.

The Testing Center will now follow a walk-in model. Appointments no longer need to be made in advance. Instead, a professor need only provide information for the exam to the testing center. Professors should print and fill out our Test Information Form (see Instructions for Faculty) and have the student bring the form with them to the exam. Additional information on delivering the test to the Center can also be found in Instructions for Faculty.

Once the professor provides the information, the student can show up and take the exam in the timeframe specified by the professor. Professors will still receive notification that the exam has been completed.

NOTE: The Testing Center has a new location!! We are now located in the Janet Ayers Academic Center, room G123 (AYRS G123).

The student information form will serve as the ticket for entry. EVERY student must have this form (or a sheet with the same information) to use the center. We need ONE form for each student. This information cannot be emailed beforehand.

Please note: If a student does not have a form or the information detailed there, they will not be allowed to test.

Some helpful tips:

  • As much of the information on the form will not change, please use the word doc and print out multiple forms with the majority of information filled in. That way, you only need change specific testing information.
  • Allow the student to fill out the form. You can then check it and add your signature.

Students: If you are taking an online exam, you must bring your own laptop to the center. Please keep in mind that readers, text to speech software, scribes, or any other specific items needed for testing beyond a proctor, distraction reduced environment, and time must go through Accessibility Services. The Testing Center is unable to provide scribes or readers.

Finals

To ensure that finals run smoothly, we will be reverting to an appointment-based system during the last 2 weeks of the semester (with walk-ins dependent on availability). If you would like to schedule a final exam, please fill out the Finals Testing form in Information for Students. We strongly recommend those that need an appointment for finals reserve a spot earlier rather than later to ensure availability for your exam time.

Finals will be accommodation-first. If you don't have accommodations, you are not guaranteed an appointment with us. We will be utilizing both AYRS G123 and Inman 141, so please refer to your confirmation email prior to the exam to ensure your testing location.

We strongly encourage students to schedule sooner rather than later to ensure availability for your exam.
