  • Homecoming Community Service Initiative: PENCIL Foundation
    02-15-2021 | Foutch Alumni House & Office of Service Learning

    Belmont is taking part in a pencil drive in support of the PENCIL Foundation, an organization supporting Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools by providing free school supplies for teachers. Please donate pencils at the Foutch Alumni House or the Office of Service Learning (JAAC 1014) during February. On Mission Monday, February 15, bring pencils to Harrington Place Dining Hall and only pay $5 dollars for your lunch, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

  • Virtual Polar Bear 5K Challenge

    Run, walk, jog, or any combination of those for a total distance of 3.1 miles either all at once or over the course of the week and you could win a PB5K Swag Pack. To qualify for a prize, members of the Belmont community must post a picture to Instagram or Twitter and tag @BUFitRec, @BelmontAlum, and include the hashtag #BelmontHoco; or on Facebook and tag Fitness and Recreation – Belmont University, Belmont University Alumni Association, and include the hashtag #BelmontHoco. These pictures can be mid-run or post-run, but make sure you show off your Belmont pride! The Office of Student Engagement will have bears available for curbside pickup in the Beaman Student Life Center. Photos of submitted bears will be available online and voted on via social media.   • Radical Generosity: Helping Others in the Midst of a Pandemic

    The Spirituality and Occupational Wellness Committee invites you to join a discussion featuring a panel of local non-profits (Alive Hospice, The Next Door, People Loving Nashville, and Project Connect) who will discuss the impact of COVID-19 on their work and communities, how we can still reach out to others even in the midst of a pandemic, and explore the intersection of service and spirituality. A special service opportunity and call to action will be highlighted.

  • CLASS Simmons Lecture -- "To See Small Fish in High Branches”: Poetry and Visioning

    The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences’ Dr. Robert E. Simmons Distinguished Faculty Lecture was created in 1983 by Dean Robert Simmons, who was a visionary academic leader and strong supporter of the liberal arts at Belmont University. After Dean Simmons’ death in 1988, the lectureship was named in his honor. This year's honoree and presenter is professor of English, Dr. Annette Sisson. 

  • Unveiled: Watkins College of Art Faculty Exhibition

    Unveiled is a group art exhibition currently on display in the Leu Art Gallery located in the Lila D. Bunch Library. Celebrating the faculty that make up the newly established Watkins College of Art at Belmont University, the show is an inclusive glimpse into the diverse artistic practices of both current and newly joined faculty members. This Faculty Presentation Series is organized in conjunction with this exhibition and promotes the studio practice of participating faculty artists.

    Guests join actors LIVE in a Zoom room and are led through an evening featuring rehearsed performance, audience interaction (only to the degree you are comfortable), improvisation, and puzzle clues. Show length is approximately 70 minutes; ages 12 and up; free admission. Performances run Wednesday, Feb. 17 - Sunday, Feb. 21

  • The Impact of COVID on Healthcare Delivery

    Join us for the 3rd annual Belmont College of Health Sciences and Nursing Homecoming CE event.

    The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 led to one of the most significant and unprecedented shifts in U.S. healthcare delivery over a period of six weeks. Professor Van Horn will use medical billing data to highlight the nature of changes in health care delivery that resulted from the shut-down, including the noteworthy shift to telemedicine.
