The current Lord Mayor of Belfast took up office on 3 June 2024.

Micky is the first openly gay Lord Mayor of Belfast.

Micky was co-opted onto Belfast City Council in May 2022, and elected in May 2023 and represents the Balmoral DEA in South Belfast

His background before politics was in the homeless sector, where he specialized in helping people with addiction challenges.

Having worked in Belfast’s community and voluntary sector for over a decade, Micky is passionate about social justice, and initiated the campaign to ban 'conversion therapy' in Northern Ireland.

Micky is committed to making Belfast a more inclusive and caring city.
