This symposium brings together key stakeholders and infectious disease practitioners from across Tennessee, the southeastern US, and beyond. Pharmacists, physicians, nurses, infection preventionists, and microbiologists learn and share important information about infectious diseases, as well as discuss ways that we can work together as a medical community to improve appropriate antimicrobial use and mitigate the risks associated with inappropriate use. In addition, continuing education credit is available for pharmacists, physicians, and nurses.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this symposium, learners should be able to:
- Identify resources available to assist in the development of antimicrobial stewardship programs including in the outpatient setting.
- Discuss how to appropriately utilize current information and diagnostics technology to maximize stewardship impact in facilities.
- Discuss optimization of antimicrobial therapy for certain infections based on evidenced based medicine and your community's and region's antibiogram.
- Discuss vaccine developments and updates to immunization recommendations including COVID-19 vaccines

- The Janet Ayers Academic Center (JAAC, building #8 on map) is located at the corner of 15th Ave S & Wedgewood Ave.
- Free parking is available in the JAAC Parking Garage (P1 & P2 on map) located underneath the building with elevator access to all floors.
- The Symposium is held in the JAAC Conference Center, located on the 4th Floor and accessed from the North Elevators inside the JAAC Parking Garage.
