Degree/Training: BSW from Belmont University, MSSW from The University of Tennessee Knoxville.
Years Working with BUCS/Responsibilities: I was a BUCS intern in the 2020-2021 school year, and I joined as a full-time clinician in August 2022. My main responsibility is creating a safe space for people to begin to share their story through individual and group therapy.
Areas of Clinical Interestt: I love being in a space with someone and hearing their story. We all have a story. My goal is to always make sure that everyone can be their full authentic self when they are in my office. I love incorporating mindfulness in my clinical work. My areas of interest are substance use Issues, anxiety, depression, spiritual/religious Issues, and the specific issues/barriers faced by the LGBTQ+ community.
Hometown: Nashville, TN
When I'm not working, I enjoy: Hanging out with friends, family, and my dachshund, Daisy! I love a good coffee shop. I love physical activity. I love hot yoga, the row machine, running, and walking. If I am on a greenway in the spring or summer, then I am in my happy place!
Favorite Place on or near Campus: I love the gazebos around campus. It's the perfect place to sit and just be still for a few minutes. Bongo Java is pretty good too!
Self-Care Tip: Grab a cup of coffee from Bongo Java and find a gazebo on campus! It is important to be gentle with yourself and show yourself compassion. My self-care is being in nature and just being still for a few minutes. Sometimes I look around and say affirming words or phrases to myself. Sometimes self-care is allowing yourself to cry and laugh all at the same time. When we practice self-care, it reminds us that we are worthy.
