Alex Routen
CMPA Undergraduate Admissions Coordinator
College of Music & Performing Arts
Biography
Alex Routen serves as the Undergraduate Admissions Coordinator for the College of Music and Performing Arts at Belmont University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Communication from Murray State University, with an extended background in both Music and the Performing Arts. Her strategic communication degree and music experience provided her previous opportunities within Kentucky at the Carson Center for the Performing Arts, Badgett Playhouse, Bluegrass Academy of Dance and Purchase Players Community Performing Arts Center, just to name a few.
Upon graduation, Alex served in the role of Education Coordinator at the Carson Center for the Performing Arts in Paducah, KY and used her expertise to bring the beauty of the arts to life. During this time, she worked alongside the Director of Education and Outreach to promote the performing arts and music, and connect with the young, and young at heart, through school programming, performances, special events, and workshops. In the early stages of Alex's career, she was also privileged to work alongside of some of New York City’s top Broadway professionals during a week-long intensive program known as Broadway Workshop™, as well as with the staff of Missoula Children’s Theatre.
Prior to joining the Belmont CMPA staff, Alex worked in Box Office Sales, Marketing and Communications at the Badgett Playhouse and transitioned over the past few years back into higher education. Upon returning to her alma mater of Murray State University, Alex worked as the Transfer Coordinator within the Office of Admissions and Transfer Center. Her passion for higher education and the performing arts led her onward to Music City and she is forever grateful to serve in this capacity, where her two worlds have officially collided.
When not at Belmont, Alex spends her weekend time as a seasonal performer at the Badgett Playhouse in Grand Rivers, KY. Some of her favorite hobbies include leading worship, traveling, and spending time with her pug, Lucy!
