Biography

Kim Powell is the Assistant Director of Interdisciplinary Studies and Global Education (ISGE) at Belmont University.  In her role, she leads the Adult Degree Program and the Veteran Success Team division within ISGE, including managing partnerships with the Nashville Ballet and the Turney Center.  Kim develops initiatives to improve the student experience for all student veterans on campus.

As an academic advisor for multiple student populations served by ISGE, Kim advises students in both the Adult Degree Program and Belmont Global Honors division.

ISGE works collaboratively across disciplines to determine and develop new majors/minors for all students. Kim enjoys leading and working with other colleges at Belmont to develop new interdisciplinary academic programs in response to current trends in the market. These efforts enable the university to plan for our students and assist them to live out Belmont’s mission in forming diverse leaders of character, equipping them with the tools to solve the world’s complex problems, and being radical champions for helping people. 

Kim has a passion for encouraging and working with students to achieve their educational goals and dreams. She genuinely enjoys helping students discover their strengths that will inform their careers and bring about the joy of learning. 

She is a native Tennessean and is an alum of Belmont with a Master of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Marketing. She has been a part of Belmont since 1989 and has seen tremendous growth at the University. She enjoys working within a caring community that strives to aid students in their own personal growth and transformation.
