Biography

E. Terrell Washington serves as Director of Strategy and Academic Program Effectiveness at Belmont University, where he supports strategic initiatives for the Office of the Dean of the Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine and university accreditation activities for the Office of the University Provost. Terrell brings more than fifteen years of experience in higher education and academic medicine. His professional background includes leadership in faculty affairs, accreditation and compliance, program evaluation, student success initiatives, and academic operations. Throughout his career, he has helped institutions design and implement strategic programs that support faculty development, improve organizational effectiveness, and enhance the quality of educational programs. His work frequently bridges academic leadership, faculty engagement, and institutional strategy.

He has also contributed to national conversations in academic medicine through his service on the Communications Committee of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Group on Faculty Affairs. Terrell served as the founding secretary of the Accreditation Preparation & Quality Improvement (APQI) Group, a national community of practice that supports professionals engaged in medical school accreditation and quality improvement for undergraduate medical education programs.

Terrell’s leadership extends beyond the university through civic and nonprofit engagement. He is a Board Member of Living Sent Ministries and a graduate of the Fall 2025 cohort of the Nashville Young Leaders Council, a program designed to equip emerging leaders to serve on nonprofit boards and strengthen community impact. Additionally, he serves as a board intern with Faith Family Medical Center, a Nashville-based nonprofit healthcare organization dedicated to providing comprehensive medical care for uninsured and underserved populations.

Terrell holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Logistics Operations from the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, a Master of Science in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Arkansas Tech University, and a Graduate Certificate in Adult Education from Arkansas State University. He is currently completing a Doctor of Education in Instructional Technology with a concentration in Adult and Continuing Education at the American College of Education in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Terrell is actively engaged in community and faith-based leadership in Middle Tennessee. He pastors a small congregation in the Haynes community of Nashville. He resides in Mt. Juliet with his wife and son.
