Belmont University students planning to stay enrolled during the Maymester/Summer may be eligible for some financial aid to help with costs. Please note, however, that institutional aid is NOT available for summer. To be eligible for aid, make sure your 24-25 FAFSA is on file – the deadline to submit it is June 30, 2025.

Important Reminders
- Requesting financial aid for Maymester/Summer is a separate process from Fall and Spring terms and requires students to complete the Financial Aid Eligibility Form.
- Financial aid is based on the number of credit hours students are enrolled in for the Maymester/Summer term
- To receive PELL, HOPE, and federal loans, students must be in credits that are within their Course Program of Study (CPoS). Please carefully plan your classes with your academic advisor or someone in the Registrar's Office.
- Your Belmont academic scholarship and need-based grant can NOT be applied to Maymester/Summer term.
- The FAFSA for 24-25 must be on file to be eligible for financial aid
Financial Aid Available
- If you were eligible for PELL during the Fall and Spring semesters, you should be eligible for PELL for Maymester/Summer.
- The amount will be based on the number of hours that you take during the Maymester/Summer term that count toward your degree (CPoS).
- Receipt of the PELL grant will be counted toward your maximum 600% lifetime PELL grant usage limit.
- If you currently have a HOPE scholarship from Tennessee, we will evaluate your eligibility for Maymester/Summer.
- You must be in at least 6 credit hours that count toward your degree (CPoS) to receive a portion of the scholarship.
- Receiving this scholarship for Maymester/Summer does not affect your eligibility for the academic year.
- Belmont University treats Maymester/Summer as a trailer to the current academic school year. If you used the limit in Direct Loans for your grade level, you will not be eligible for more during the Maymester/Summer term. The yearly limits are:
- 0-29 credit hours: $5,500 for dependent undergraduate students, $9,500 for independent undergraduates
- 30-63 credit hours: $6,500 for dependent undergraduate students, $10,500 for independent undergraduates
- 64 credit hours and above: $7,500 for dependent undergraduate students, $12,500 for independent undergraduates
- Graduate students: $20,500
- Pharmacy students: $33,000 plus $4,167 for Summer
- Direct PLUS Loans are available for parents of undergraduate students. They must apply for these loans and be approved here: https://studentaid.gov/plus-app/
- Grad PLUS Loans are available for graduate students. They must apply for these loans and be approved here: https://studentaid.gov/plus-app/
- Students who need additional funds after considering all of the other financial aid programs or are ineligible for any of the funds listed above may consider an alternative loan.
- Undergraduate and graduate students can apply for alternative loans.
