Competitive rate reinforces College’s standing as leader in legal education
Belmont University College of Law continues to position itself as a leader in legal education, reporting an outstanding 97% placement rate for its most recent graduating class. The College’s outcomes are routinely higher than the national average and reflect the program’s intentional commitment to equipping students to be successful in the competitive legal profession.
From clerkships and firm placements to public interest and corporate legal roles, the majority of Belmont Law graduates find meaningful employment opportunities within 10 months after graduation, as defined by ABA reporting standards.
The impressive employment rate aligns with another standout metric: Belmont Law’s consistently high first-time bar passage rate — reported at 94.7% for the class of 2024. Together, these outcomes demonstrate the College’s rigorous preparation and career-focused approach — hallmarks of what it takes to be a leader in legal education.
“What I hear from employers is that our graduates are better prepared, respectful and determined to be successful. It goes beyond the education,” said College of Law Dean Alberto Gonzales. “We try to instill in our students an understanding that they have an obligation to lead in our society, and to protect the rule of law, which is the foundation of our democracy. Lawyers are the guardians of our way of life. Today, more than ever, our country needs this leadership.”
A majority of 2024 Belmont Law graduates remained in Tennessee to practice, a statistic that underscores the strategic advantage of studying in a capital city. Even before they graduate, Belmont Law students are equipped with invaluable experiential learning opportunities that offer early exposure to the region’s bountiful economy and robust legal landscape.
The city's economy has more than doubled over the past two decades, and the job market has added over 120,000 positions since 2020. That upward trajectory translates into expanded possibilities for legal professionals across all sectors.
