Belmont community raises nearly $1 million, more than doubling fundraising goal
Belmont’s annual Bruins for Life giving day raised an astounding $951,510, more than doubling the initial goal of $400,000. While the campaign reached 1,834 donors, slightly short of the 2,000-donor target, the financial impact far surpassed projections, showcasing just how generous the Belmont community truly is.
"Bruins for Life is about inviting the entire Belmont community to come together as philanthropic supporters," said Director of Annual Giving Anna Diggs. "We're blown away by this outpouring of generosity, which represents a five-fold increase from last year’s giving day. This support reflects the passion our donors have for the areas that matter most to them, and their gifts will make a real difference in our students' experiences and opportunities."
Several challenges across campus were successfully completed, unlocking additional funding for Belmont programs:
- Bruins for Life Challenge: $951,510 raised, unlocking a $50,000 gift for the Annual Fund
- 1890 Society: 89 donors contributing $1,000+, unlocking $10,000 for the Annual Fund
- Parent Giving: $332,204 raised, unlocking $10,000 for the Parent Fund
- Bruin Club: $126,395 raised, unlocking an additional $5,000 for Athletics
- Gordon E. Inman College of Nursing: $19,630 raised, unlocking an additional $10,000
- Mike Curb College of Entertainment & Music Business: $240,585 raised, unlocking an additional $10,000
- College of Music & Performing Arts: $40,374 raised, unlocking an additional $5,000
- College of Sciences & Mathematics: $5,215 raised, unlocking an additional $5,000
- O’More College of Architecture & Design: $5,376 raised, unlocking an additional $5,000
- College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences: $11,492 raised, unlocking an additional $5,000
- College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences: 11,759 raised, unlocking an additional $10,000
- Massey College of Business: $20,215 raised, unlocking an additional $10,000
The dollars only tell part of the story. For students like Saira Aguilar, a sophomore nursing major, these gifts represent life-changing opportunities. From an early age, Saira cared for her brother with special needs and discovered her calling to pursue nursing. Now she is able to attend Belmont through scholarship support. For Saira and countless other students, each Bruins for Life gift is an investment in their futures.
As Bruins for Life continues to grow, it's becoming more than just a giving day — it’s turned into a university-wide celebration that brings together alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends around a shared belief in Belmont's mission. The nearly $1 million raised will directly support scholarships, academic innovation and student experiences that will help develop the next generation of leaders who will carry Belmont's legacy into their communities and careers.
