Online master's program offers reduced tuition for Tennessee educators
Belmont University's College of Education announced today the launch of its fully online, asynchronous job-embedded Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program, making high-quality teacher preparation more accessible and affordable for aspiring educators across Tennessee.
The newly approved program, set to begin enrolling students for summer 2025, will offer the same rigorous curriculum and personal attention that Belmont is known for, while providing the flexibility of online learning. The program will also feature a significant tuition reduction, with rates decreasing from $1,050 to $825 per credit hour.
"This innovative teacher preparation program combines the convenience of online learning with the personalized support that is a hallmark of Belmont's education programs," said Jim McIntyre, dean of the College of Education and assistant provost for academic excellence at Belmont. " Not only will students benefit from the flexibility of online asynchronous coursework, they also will receive in-person clinical supervision from Belmont University experts who will observe and guide them in their classroom teaching experiences."
The online format expands access to Belmont's prestigious teacher preparation program to prospective students throughout Tennessee, as graduates will be eligible for statewide educator licensure. In addition, regular structured opportunities to connect with Belmont’s outstanding faculty for mentorship and personalized support will ensure a deeply engaging educational experience. This strategic move addresses the growing need for qualified teachers across the state who will embody Belmont's high standards for educator preparation.
