We know that students face challenges both in or out of the classroom, especially during this busy time in their lives. Student Care and Support provides triage, support, coaching, and education for students, faculty, staff, and parents so the entire Belmont community can actively support our students as they navigate this exciting (yet sometimes challenging) role of being a college student.
We work with students to offer holistic care including:
- Academic Concerns
- Emotional well-being
- Mental health
- Physical Health
- Financial Insecurity
- Housing or Food Insecurity
- Pregnancy Support
- Relational Stress
- Sexual Misconduct
- Eating Disorders
- Body Image or Nutrition
- Violence or Harassment
Student Concern System
The Student Concern System is a resource designed for all members of the Belmont University community to use to report non-emergency concerns about a student’s health or safety. The Dean of Students Office encourages all Belmont faculty, staff and students to utilize the student concern system to share your concern, large or small. Professional staff from the offices of Student Care & Support and the Dean of Students will assist in identifying the type of concern and connect students of concern to helpful resources on an as needed basis.
If you learn of urgent concerns including:
Violence or Threats of violence
You feel uncomfortable or unsafe
Take the conversation to a stopping point.
Prioritize safety! Call Campus Security at 615-460-6911
After immediate help is provided, submit a Student Concern Form
If you learn of less emergent concerns including:
Mental or physical health
Racial or gender discrimination
Questions you can't answer
Offer resources if you feel comfortable doing so
Let the student know you'll fill out a Student Concerns Form
Not sure what else to do?
Student Care & Support is happy to answer any questions you may have. Contact us Monday- Friday 8:00am-4:30pm by calling 615-460-6407 or emailing email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Always complete a form even if you take another step like walking a student to counseling or calling 911.
Campus Member Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of faculty, staff, and students to immediately report any situation that could possibly result in harm to anyone at the University. The Student Concern System is not 911 and should only be utilized for non-life-threatening concerns. Please contact Campus Security for all immediate safety concerns at 615-460-6911. Student Concern System notifications are informational only, and actions taken by University staff to concerns submitted may be confidential and/or private.
