Belmont University is a Christ-centered, student-focused community developing leaders of purpose, character, wisdom and transformational mindset, eager and equipped to make the world a better place.
Our University Ministries team nurtures this mission
- by encouraging students, staff, and faculty to participate actively in local congregations and parishes and in the ministry activities of our 20+ faith development organizations
- by supporting a wide range of Christ-centered initiatives across Belmont’s 12 colleges and student formation programs, and
- by providing Christ-centered worship, pastoral care, formation groups, and mission and service opportunities shaped by a team that serves out of our main office in the Gabhart Center on campus.
We warmly welcome everyone in our community to participate in these activities. We welcome undergraduate students, graduate students, staff members, faculty and administrators. We welcome life-long believers, skeptics, seekers, and people of any faith background or none.
We cherish the curiosity and love of learning our students bring to campus, and the generative questions they ask which challenge and inspire all of us:
- How can my faith grow and deepen?
- What do I really believe about God and the life of faith?
- Who is Jesus and what would it mean to live a Christ-centered life?
- How can my gifts contribute to the church and other ministries?
- Will I be able to find a new church home or parish?
- Will I find a faith community that will accept who I am and support me?
- How can I better understand and engage Christians from different denominations and people from other faith backgrounds?
To help our students engage these questions and to encourage participation in Christ-centered practices, ministry staff from evangelical, mainline, Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Pentecostal, and non-denominational ministry organizations engage regularly on campus, bringing with them skills for deep listening and access to wisdom and resources from their own Christian tradition.
Our Belmont University ministry staff and our 30+ SLAs (Spiritual Life Ambassadors) complement these ministries by shaping opportunities for Christ-centered worship, pastoral care, formative learning, and service.
