Additional Rules

Graduating Senior

Some Belmont students choose to study abroad their graduation semester.  It is the university's experience that we are rarely able to meet the Registrar's Office deadlines with students' transcripts from abroad in time for same semester graduation.  This is impacted mainly by varying academic calendars at our study abroad sites.

Belmont University's policy for graduation states that all grades must be recorded by noon on the Wednesday prior to graduation in order for students to graduate.  This deadline for senior semester grades allows the university time to print the graduation program and prepare for the number of graduates receiving diplomas.

When choosing to study abroad one's graduation semester, it is critical to understand that if the grades are not received from abroad and posted by Belmont's stated time limit, the Registrar's Office will re-schedule graduation for the following semester (e.g. August or May).

Senior Residency and Waiver

All degree seeking students are required to take their last 32 credit hours in their degree / program at Belmont University.  Prior to registration for the course(s), students seeking to take courses outside of Belmont must request a waiver of the senior residency requirement.  For more information, click here

In all instances, Belmont University reserves the right to approve, retract or deny a student's participation in study abroad.
