Interprofessional Engagement

Center for Interprofessional Engagement & Simulation

Welcome to the Belmont Interprofessional Engagement Program!

At our program's core, we aspire to lead an innovative initiative dedicated to meeting the highest standards for interprofessional education and practice as set by the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) competencies.

With a strong emphasis on fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among both graduate and undergraduate programs, our program cultivates an inclusive environment that extends beyond the confines of the classroom.

Our primary focus areas include collaborative education, immersive clinical practice, community engagement, and groundbreaking research.

We are dedicated to nurturing connections between students and faculty from diverse disciplines, including nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, medicine, pharmacy, public health, exercise science, social work, counseling and more, through strategic partnerships with the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Frist Jr College of Medicine, and Inman College of Nursing. Furthermore, we aim to expand interprofessional opportunities beyond these programs to encompass other disciplines such as law, architecture, business, education, and more.

We are committed to shaping the future of collaborative education and healthcare by inspiring transformative change – together, we can make a difference!

Clinical Practice Site Partnerships

A goal for our program is to develop interdisciplinary clinical sites serving vulnerable populations. Through collaborative efforts, we hope to identify and establish sites where students can engage in interdisciplinary teamwork, gaining invaluable real-world experience while addressing the complex needs of underserved communities. By integrating diverse perspectives and expertise, we aim to create enriching clinical environments that not only enhance students' skills and knowledge but also promote holistic, patient-centered care. We hope to train compassionate and competent future healthcare professionals who are equipped to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those most in need.

Global Health Partnerships

Belmont University organizes medical missions to Honduras, Guatemala, and Kenya, where interprofessional teams of students and faculty provide essential health screenings and therapy services to underserved communities. These missions represent a holistic approach to healthcare, bringing together students and professionals from various disciplines such as medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and pharmacy. Through collaborative efforts, they aim to address the diverse healthcare needs of these regions, offering screenings for various health conditions and delivering therapy services to enhance the well-being of individuals in these communities. These missions not only provide valuable hands-on experience for students but also contribute to the university's commitment to global impact and social responsibility.
