Belmont University fully complies with the Family Medical Leave Act and the Tennessee Maternity and Paternity Leave laws. Under the FMLA, Belmont University provides unpaid leave for up to 12 weeks for employees who have worked for the University for at least 12 months, and a minimum of 1250 hours in the preceding 12 months of the FMLA request. Belmont University also complies with the Military Family Leave Entitlements portion of the FMLA. Additionally, Belmont University adheres to the Tennessee Maternity and Paternity Leave requirements of Tenn. Code Ann. 41-21-108 which allows a mother or father to take unpaid leave following the birth of a child.
