Join the Belmont University Film Society and Belmont SAPB for a very special screening...
Following a presentation from the SPARK keynote speaker, we will be showing the animated future-classic: The Wild Robot (2024)!
Our screening of The Wild Robot will be preceded by a 15 minute lecture on the film from a Belmont Professor.
Environmental WELL-Core credit will be available directly following the end of the film.
Synopsis: After a shipwreck, an intelligent robot called Roz is stranded on an uninhabited island. To survive the harsh environment, Roz bonds with the island's animals and cares for an orphaned baby goose.
Starring: Lupita Nyong'o, Pedro Pascal, Kit Connor, and Billy Nighy!
The Wild Robot is rated PG.
Artist Statement:
The composition, Children of The Fire is a protest against war, be it in the name of God, king or country. The piece was composed immediately after viewing a televised news segment of a young Vietnamese girl running naked on a road outside her village. She was in obvious agony from the napalm attack which burned her skin. Children of The Fire was my immediate music and human response to that horrid sight.
It would be the greatest honor to have that same child, now a grown woman, hear the composition she so greatly inspired.
