Healthcare Accelerated Programs
Belmont is a premier destination for training in healthcare! We have a number of accelerated programs for high-achieving students to gain admission into one of our doctoral programs. Often, students must confirm their intent to pursue these accelerated programs prior to the start of their freshman year.

Belmont HEALs
The Belmont HEALs Conditional Admission Program offers undergraduate students a pathway to conditional admission in Belmont’s graduate programs for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, and Medicine. Focused on traditional academic timelines, the program provides mentorship, academic advising, and career exploration opportunities for aspiring healthcare professionals. It excludes students enrolled in Belmont's accelerated 2+4 or 3+3 programs.

Pursuing the Pre-Health journey means planning and pursuing your dreams. BU Pre-Health is here to help you along the journey! We've mapped out the seminars and activities you should attend and when you should attend them. We've done this to help guide your journey, make sure you get the essential information when you need it, to break misconceptions, and to ensure that your time meeting with the pre-health advisor is helpful. Those who complete the expectations will receive a Pre-Health certificate & BUPH pin to wear at graduation!

Beth Bowman, Assistant Dean of the College of Sciences and Mathematics, serves at Belmont University’s Pre-Health Advisor. As an alum herself, she is deeply invested in the success of Belmont students and is passionate about helping students identify, plan for, and reach their future careers. Having a background in graduate admissions and a strong network in the Nashville community, she knows just how to help students reach their potential!

Belmont Healthcare Exploration for Aspiring Leaders (HEALs) Conditional Admission Program
Belmont University has tremendous opportunities for aspiring healthcare providers. Our graduate-level programs include Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Medicine. These programs, along with the excellent support for undergraduate education and research in the sciences, make Belmont a premier destination for aspiring health professionals.
We have launched a conditional admission program for students to explore diverse healthcare career options and then apply for conditional admission into one of our Graduate-level Healthcare programs. The Belmont programs included within the Healthcare Exploration for Aspiring Leaders (HEALs) program include Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, and Medicine.
Application/Selection Process
- Students participate in Pre-Health programming their freshman year to explore diverse careers in healthcare.
- Students apply for this program in August of their sophomore year.
- The Graduate Program Admissions Committee makes admission decisions are made and communicated by November.

- Coursework, must have taken the following classes and received no grade under a B at Belmont.
- Principles of Biology I
- General Chemistry I/ General Psychology (for OT)
- 8 hr Shadowing/Experience in the specific profession to which they are applying strongly encouraged
- Applicants must have an overall institutional GPA of 3.0 or above when applying to HEALs. The expectation that conditionally admitted students will reach a competitive GPA by the time they apply for full acceptance following their junior year.
Students who receive conditional admission through the HEALs program are expected to complete the requirements for a competitive application for Full Acceptance.

- If the student meets admissions requirements, offer to Interview is guaranteed
- Apply for Early Interview Day
- Applicants must successfully pass the Interview to be offered acceptance into program.
