Primary Typefaces

Belmont University’s primary typefaces are Gotham and Adobe Garamond with Gotham Narrow as a secondary for limited horizontal space. Consistently using these typefaces strengthens the Belmont brand and should be applied to all public-facing University print and digital materials, with the exception of the University website.

Gotham — a bold, fresh and welcoming font — should be used prominently, with Adobe Garamond used selectively to support. Gotham's various weights offer flexibility for diverse applications, while italics should be used sparingly for callouts, testimonials and emphasis within body copy.

In special cases, additional typefaces are needed for promotions, events and programs. These typefaces should align with Belmont’s brand standards and should complement our brand fonts.

Substitute Typefaces

If one does not have a license to the primary Belmont Typefaces, the following fonts can be used as substitutes:

  • Montserrat: The free Google font Montserrat can be used as a substitute for Gotham.
  • Oswald: The free Google font Oswald can be used as a substitute for Gotham Narrow.
  • Garamond: The font Garamond is preinstalled on most computers and can be used as a substitute for Adobe Garamond.
